Pringle of Scotland... Keep Me Warm!

I stepped out onto my patio this morning and for the first time this year, I shivered.  Winter is swiftly approaching, which means it's time to bundle up.  Over-sized coats are a must as they allow you to throw on multiple layers.  This not only adds extra warmth, but also extra dimension to your look.  When going for this layered look, don't forget to neglect your body parts south of your hips.  Pringle of Scotland shows us how to  lather on the layers like pros!

It can be difficult when wearing pieces of clothing that have opposing patterns.  If it looks off, it probably is.  I can not count the number of times that I have stared at clothing combinations in the mirror, trying to figure out if I'm wearing something hot, or something that is a hot mess.  Pringle manages to pull it off here, but barely.

Keep your colours warmer.  Browns, greys, dark navy, black...  A little fur never hurt anyone either.  Let's keep it faux though!  We want to keep ourselves warm without impacting those creatures less capable than us.

I am loving me some turtlenecks this season.  The chunkier, the better!  Note how this one almost looks like a sweater and a scarf.  If you're going for the turtleneck look, remember to make sure that more of your layers are removeable.  No one wants to walk into work and burst into sweat!

My favourite look of the collection!  A chunky scarf.  A hood.  An over-sized, overly-chunky, cableknit sweater.  Oh!  And one look that I have been wearing day in and day out this season.  Chunky, knitted socks that have pants tucked in and complimented with a nice pair of boots.  Try out this look.  You might be surprised with how ruggedly sexy you look!

Burberry Pie

When asked which design house I love most, I triumphantly declare, "Burberry Prorsum".  Christopher Bailey brings something to the table each and every time.  This Fall season, he graced us with coats.  Many coats.  Oh!  And chunky sweaters too...  Bailey is a master of taking old, washed-up trends, and showing us they can transcend the ages.

This gent is sporting a fine, black, double-breasted peacoat.  With a traditional cut like this, it can be hard to make a truly unique statement.  Bailey manages to do so, however, with the flair of cow-print around the collar.  I am loving me some animal prints this season.

As the snow approaches, the chunky sweaters are going to be making more and more appearances.  A corded sweater like this will not only keep you warm, but it will keep you comfortable.  I love the nappy look of this sweater.  Directly from Grandpa's closet?  Yes please!

My favourite.  Double breasted.  Over-sized lapel.  Fur-trimmed collar.  Trench-length peacoat.  An absolutely stunning piece.  With coats like these, it is important to remember one thing.  Although the price tag may scream in your face when glanced at, keep in mind that this look is time less.  I would wear this jacket from today until my last day in my death bed.

Gobel Gobel

I looooooves me some good shirt/tie combinations.  Especially ones that stray from the ordinary.  Marlon Gobel hasn't been designing his own for that long.  Only about a year, in fact.  It's great to see a new designer still struggling through, finding their way.  Especially when there isn't much of a struggle! Gobel makes use of a full colour palate as well as a pattern palate.  Finding a great tie to match a great shirt can be a chore, more often than not.  The trick is to compliment.  Compliment colours!

With Halloween quickly approaching, orange is back in style.  While the look to the left may be too busy for everyday wear, the colour coordination is right on point.  I love the Gingham look to the right!  Whenever you can, find a DIY bowtie.  Sure the clip-on/tie-arounds are effortless, but a hand-tied bow tie is timeless!

The complimentary colours in this look are right on point.  If you can, take one shade--blue in this case--and bring different shades to the entire look.  It will help make your look more purposeful and less happenstance!

Buckle Up

With Winter on the approach, it may be too soon to start writing about Spring styles. I saw Buckler's latest collection, however, and couldn't resist! Sure, many of the tops are so sheer you can see the model's nipples through them! But paired with the right sweater and even jacket, you could rock these tops even in the coldest of months. Note the neutral tones throughout most of the collection... Buckler does a great job of showing how even the blandest of colours can bring life to a look if you do it right!

When it comes to denim, I've been a firm believer in the 'less is more' look. As I've begun to develop an obsession with G-Star denim, I'm moved more towards the detailed look. These jeans by Buckler are a good example of how a little bit of detail can go a long way. They really catch my gaze and hold it! Love the longer than average tee as well!

These two looks bring a classy vibe to casualwear. The striped sweat shorts on the guy to the left look super comfy without being comfy-looking. The subtle striping in the tee as well... So groovy!

Everything about this guy's look is killing it! The same subtle striping is seen in this shirt as the black one above. What a great way to make a neutral-coloured, plain tee pop. I love the camel-toned, leather straps of the bag he is sportin' too.
